I actually didn't really like how they handled the phantom either. OH YOU GOT ME *witness immediately reveals all his secrets*. What's that? You seem to feel sad when you say that. Finally I don't like the mood matrix stuff at all. but you keep using them as a witness (I don't remember it being this bad in the earlier games). I also really didn't like how every witness just straight up lies. For the few moderately difficult logical connections you had to make they really pounded home what the answer was and it really bothered me. The presentation was really well done and I really liked the twist deduction sections but I found the game to be way. Oh and i hate the 'dark age of the law' stuff that just popped into this game.įinished the game.

i'm not sure how everything will pull together in a satisfying way, save manfred von karma suddenly being revealed to be the orchestrator of every event in the series since his arrest. edgeworth somehow, and it should have wrapped up both of their stories that started around the time of aa4/aai. I feel like this should have ended with wright vs. i kinda feel like i'm being jerked around. now it seems that since ace attorney 4, a very big story is being told, and there have been about four games to explain what the hell's going on so far without any payoff. ace attorney 3 retroactively wrapped everything up as a grand trilogy.

ace attorney 2 had a bunch of little stories and then one really big one. ace attorney 1 had a self-contained story. i mean, the phantom's t-1000 death sequence was really great, but knowing this is the middle of some bigger plot? eh. it seems we traded overall better characters for less interesting investigations.Īlthough i don't find it too interesting how the game ended. i mean, i'm glad that failing psyche-locks no longer ends the game, but i liked submitting profiles and examining evidence. i thought backquill as a prosecutor was pretty good though, and the best one since edgeworth.Īs far as the game side goes, i wish that some of the old stuff was back. she was like a different kind of phoenix, versus apollo whose personality just never really gelled with me. i really didn't guess until i was talking with blackquill in the detention center. With regard to the big bad, i loved that it was fulbright. the music was pretty fantastic all throughout, too. the anime wasn't something i was looking forward to, but bones did an all right job, and it felt more like early 00s than early 10s to me. you spend most of the time clicking through text, looking at goofball characters, and examining evidence, so when the animation is this good, and the settings are so dramatic, and the fanservice feels so right, the game really hits some high marks. So i finished the game, and my gut reaction impressions are:ĭamn, they really upped the presentation on this one.Īnd i feel that the ace attorney games focus heavily on it. Considering the events of AAI and the Yatagarasu case, its hard to blame him. He was driven to do horrible things, but his statements at the end of case 1-5 indicate he became a monster to fight monsters. On the other hand, as horrible as the things he did were, I genuinely don't think Damon Gant was evil. While it was Misty's failure that brought ruin to the Feys, every other event in the clan was set about by Morgan, just as while it was Bansai's reprimand which set Manfred down the warpath, it was still von Karma's actions which opened the floodgates for the Dark Age of the Law. The only real difference is that Morgan seems to have never had a healthy marriage (as opposed to Manfred, about whom we're never told), and gave birth to Pearl out of sheer spite (we're never lead to believe this about von Karma). Both were perfect in their own way and view, both lost to another character's parent (Manfred to Edgeworth, Morgan to Misty), both orchestrated murders which were designed to destroy the child of their adversary, and both were trying to raise their daughters to be their successors. Hell, Morgan Fey has a LOT in common with Manfred von Karma. Morgan is to the Fey clan what Manfred and Bansai are to the Law. She hasn't sullied her hands as much as Dahlia, but note that Mia points out that Dahlia was pretty sloppy and pathetic, whereas Mia genuinely considered Morgan a worthy adversary.

I would argue that Morgan Fey is much more evil than Dahlia.
